Licences required under legislation
Information on training and licences has been updated to reflect the changes to legislation effective from 1 January 2006.
There are potential risks associated with working in a workplace. It is a requirement under the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995 (PDF, 766 KB) to undertake training and hold the appropriate licence.
Licences can also be known as certificates or certificates of authority.
A licence is required if you plan to:
- undertake construction work or enter a construction workplace (blue card )
- provide and conduct training as a registered training organisation
- become a workplace health and safety officer (WHSO)
- operate certain plant and equipment for a prescribed occupation which includes:
