Warning: ROPS regulations to be enforced

Following a long-term awareness campaign and several years of providing rebates for installing potentially life-saving roll over protective structures (ROPS), inspectors will step up enforcement of ROPS regulations, which came into full effect on 1 July 2007.

The regulations require the fitting of ROPS to tractors used in the workplace in order to prevent injuries and deaths resulting from incidents involving tractor roll overs.

Audits will now be carried out and prohibition notices issued to owners who have not complied with the regulations. Any equipment receiving a prohibition notice cannot be used until it has been altered and shown to comply with the regulation.
