Construction industry action plan
The construction industry action plan was released on 5 March 2008 to support the second stage of the Queensland Workplace Health and Safety Strategy 2004-12, which aims to reduce the incidence of work-related injuries by 40 per cent and fatalities by 20 per cent.
Industry specific initiatives in this action plan include:
- providing education and training to the civil construction industry to ensure it has the skills to manage manual task risks and hazards
- enhancing on-site consultative arrangements
- improving on-site safety requirements
- promoting participation in the “The People at Work Project” to better manage occupational stress risks in the construction industry.
